Instant AnalysisOnce again the A's are making an attempt to strike while the iron is hot with a player from their Triple-A affiliate. Eric Sogard has hit safely in 17 of his last 18 games with the River Cats since being optioned on May 21. The team used the same approach this season with Brandon Moss, Brandon Hicks, and Chris Carter -- bringing them up when hot at the plate. Sogard will be the starting shortstop for now. He only started four games at shortstop in Sacramento and appeared in one game there as a defensive replacement. Top of the OrderJemile Weeks has been an irritant to the Yankees. He is hitting .353 (6 for 17) against them this season, and he is 16 for 46 (.348) in his career against them. Weeks is 1 for 3 against Yankees starting pitcher Ivan Nova. Heart of the OrderJosh Reddick is 1 for 5 with a home run in his career against Nova. Yoenis Cespedes is on a career-high seven game hitting streak, lifting his batting average to .293. He is now hitting .338 with runners in scoring position and eight of his 12 homers have come with runners on base. Bottom of the OrderEven though Kurt Suzuki has been struggling offensively he might be provide a boost to the lineup. Rookie catcher Derek Norris is hit-less in his last 27 at-bats. Suzuki is a career .309 (38 for 123) hitter against the Yankees.New York Yankees (57-35) lineupDerek Jeter, SS

Starting PitchersThe Yankees will be sending Ivan Nova (10-4, 4.18 ERA) to the mound. He was defeated by the Angels in his last start, allowing six runs in six innings.
