Shane Peterson's big-league debut will come against a guy with whom he is very familiar. Astros starting pitcher Brad Peacock was Peterson's teammate in Sacramento with the River Cats. Of all the up-and-coming players the A's coaches saw during spring training, Peterson may have turned the most heads. He is a capable outfielder as well as a first baseman.

Peterson was hitting .410 at the time of his call up. He is riding a six-game hitting streak in the minors and five of those games have been multi-hit efforts.

One to Watch:

Keep an eye on Coco Crisp on Tuesday. He is on a 10-game hitting streak and went 2 for 2 with a home run and a double against Peacock last time they faced each other.

Worth Noting:

A's right fielder Josh Reddick was given the day off on Monday. After returning from a right wrist sprain on Friday, he went 1 for 13 with seven strikeouts and one RBI. He moves down to sixth in the lineup.

A's (10-4) lineup:
1. Coco Crisp (S) CF
2. John Jaso (L) C
3. Seth Smith (L) DH
4. Jed Lowrie (S) SS
5. Chris Young (R) LF
6. Josh Reddick (L) RF
7. Josh Donaldson (R) 3B
8. Shane Peterson (L) 1B
9. Eric Sogard (L) 2B
