AThe Oakland Athletics have optioned Arnold Leon to Triple-A Sacramento. The club now has 46 players in camp.

Leon made national headlines this spring as the Athletics lone WBC representative. On Saturday it took him more than one pitch to intentionally hit Team Canada batter Rene Tosoni, sparking a bench-clearing brawl. Leon, a member of Team Mexico, was one of seven players ejected in the brawl but no suspensions were issued. Mexico lost the game 10-6 which sent Leon back to camp.

Leon, 24, is a right-handed relief pitcher and wasn't expected to break camp with the A's. The team currently has a packed bullpen and his actions in the WBC likely had no impact on the decision to send him down on Monday. He spent time in Single-A, and Double-A last season, but most of his appearances came in Sacramento with the River Cats. In 22 games he was 3-0 with a 1.77 ERA, 31 strikeouts and 15 walks in 35 2/3 innings pitched.

In six innings pitched for the A's this spring, Leon had allowed three hits, two runs, four walks, and had one strikeout.

Of the 46 players in big league camp, 37 are on the 40-man roster and nine of them are non-roster invitees.
