Donaldson hits amazing BP home run
Comcast SportsNet's cameras are always rolling at the ballpark. As a result, many people saw the batting practice swing by A's third baseman Josh Donaldson that drove a ball into the O.co "O" in left field and the theatrics that ensued. As far as anyone can recall, it's the first time a ball has made it into the opening of that sign just to the left of the out of town scoreboard.
If that happens during a game, a fan gets $10,000. Even without any fans present, Donaldson raised his arm in victory and did an exuberant reverse-field home run trot. It turns out he had a legitimate reason to be excited after all.
Overstock.com has decided to send $10,000 to the Wounded Warrior Project in Donaldson's name.
“The possibility of the ball hitting the Overstock.com bullseye is very slim," Overstock.com president Stormy Simon said. "The fact that it happened is amazing and cause for celebration."
It's a pretty decent subplot to a strange moment at the ballpark.
