Posey takes first at bat since injury, flies out

Buster Posey participated in his first baseball game since the horrific ankle injury last spring Friday, and played two innings against the Reds with no setbacks.

Posey was in the squat receiving pitches from Matt Cain. It didn't take long for him to settle in and wear a foul tip off the old-school style catcher's mask he is now wearing.

Posey, batting cleanup, did not get to the plate in the first inning, but his leadoff at bat in the second inning came against Reds fireballer Aroldis Chapman.

He received a full-on standing ovation after being announced on the PA at Scottsdale Stadium.

Posey didn't wait around, taking a big cut at the first offering -- and missing. Chapman followed with a strike on the outside corner, followed by ball one inside and ball two high and away.

With the count two balls, two strikes, Posey swung at a pitch high and outside and drove it out to shallow right field for an out. He showed good hustle getting down the line.

After the inning, Chris Stewart took the field in full catcher's gear to catch Cain's third inning, and Buster Posey's first foray into Major League Baseball since his May 25 injury was complete.
