Posey turns corner, turning corners

Giants catcher Buster Posey is on the tail end of a grueling month and a half of rehabilitation in Arizona, and progress on his healing ankle continues to be positive.

Posey took a big step in the rehab process Monday when he tested his surgically repaired ankle running corners, the Giants announced on their team website.

"I've been running straight, but this was the first time I tested it running corners," Posey told MLB.com. "I was out there turning a lot. I thought it went well. No problems."

After close to 50 days of batting practice and working out, Posey and his family will plan to abandon their temporary Arizona apartment and move back to Georgia.

"All along, the game plan was to leave by the beginning of November," Posey was quoted. "From that point on, I want to have as normal an offseason as possible."

His normal offseason routine will be augmented with strengthening drills overseen by a physical therapist, but the real tests won't come until Posey returns to Arizona for the Giants' Cactus League games.

"I am anxious for that first Spring Training game, and the chance to test it out," Posey said. "All the simulated games aren't the same. You don't really know how it'll be when the adrenaline starts pumping, what kind of stress there will be on the joint. But I feel confident. I'm starting to feel pretty good, and we all have a lot to look forward to."
