Nearly nine months after being viciously beaten at Dodger Stadium, Bryan Stow spoke on camera for the first time with NBC News Chief Medical Editor Dr. Nancy Snyderman.

After spending several months in an intensive care unit at San Francisco General Hospital (much of which was spent in a medically induced coma) Stow was transferred to a rehabilitation center in San Jose in October.

It has been a long road to recovery for Stow, who is in the process of relearning how to walk, brush his teeth, and talk, among other basic daily activities.

Although he has made significant progress, doctors say Bryan will be permanently disabled and do not expect him to be a paramedic ever again.

Louie Sanchez, 29, and Marvin Norwood, 30, were arrested and charged in the attack following a Los Angeles police investigation. Investigators describe the assault as the culmination of a string of confrontations they had with randomly selected Giants fans at the stadium.

Sanchez and Norwood both have pleaded not guilty to mayhem, assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury, and battery with serious bodily injury.
