Moore hosting charity ping-pong tournament

Add ping-pong to the offseason workout regimen for several of the San Jose Sharks.

Dominic Moore, set to become an unrestricted free agent in less than a month, will be hosting Smashfest, a celebrity ping-pong tournament in downtown Toronto on July 12. The event is billed as an interactive ping-pong event that will showcase current and former NHL players as they face off against one another in a fun, hip setting.

Current Sharks Logan Couture and Daniel Winnik are expected to attend, as well as other notable names such as Steven Stamkos, Jason Spezza, Vincent Lecavalier and Eric Lindros.

As the events website points out, ping-pong tables have become prevalent in NHL locker rooms in recent years. The Sharks had one at their practice facility at one point, but it has since been removed.

Proceeds from Smashfest will benefit concussion research.
