One player the Sharks wont see on Thursday night when the Red Wings visit is defenseman Ian White.

White, who joined the Sharks late last season from Carolina before signing with Detroit this summer, suffered a fractured cheekbone when he was struck by a shot in the face on Saturday. According to Michigan Lives Ansar Khan, White will miss 1-2 weeks.

Khan writes:

"Hell be able to play with it, once it heals reasonably well," General manager Ken Holland said. "Hell just need to wear some facial protection."White was hit in the face by a wrist shot from Jamie Benn with 11:06 remaining in a 5-2 victory against Dallas. The Stars would have tied the game at 3-3 if the puck hadnt hit White, who also received stitches under his right eye.

Detroit is expected to insert Mike Commodore into the lineup.

The Red Wings have won four in a row and begin a four-game road trip in St. Louis before their visit to HP Pavilion.
