49ers' Edwards out after surgery

SANTA CLARA -- Receiver Braylon Edwardshad a surgical procedure performed on his right knee this week and will be "out for a little bit," 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday.Edwards, who was injured on the third play of the 49ers' loss Sunday to the Dallas Cowboys, will not play this week against the Cincinnati Bengals. Harbaugh provided no time frame on how long Edwards might be out of action.Receiver Michael Crabtree, however, is expected back on the field after being inactive for last week's game with a left foot injury. When asked if Crabtree would be active, Harbaugh answered, "Most likely."Two other positions that Harbaugh and his staff will keep a close eye on this week: cornerback and free safety.Cornerback Shawntae Spencer and safety Dashon Goldson will have the opportunities this week during practice to regain their starting jobs, Harbaugh said.
