JAN. 4, 2011MAIOCCO ARCHIVE49ERS PAGE 49ERS VIDEOMatt MaioccoCSNBayArea.comTeam president Jed York has narrowed his 49ers general manager choices to Trent Baalke and Mike Lombardi, a league source said Tuesday night. The Sacramento Bee was the first to report that York has eliminated all but two candidates for the job. York might make a decision as early as Tuesday evening. One source with knowledge of the search said he expects Baalke, 49ers vice president of player personnel, to be promoted to general manager. If Lombardi, former personnel man with the Raiders, gets the job it would represent a "dramatic reversal."Stanford coach Jim Harbaugh remains the 49ers' overwhelming choice as head coach -- regardless of the general manager.Former Broncos general manager Ted Sundquist and ex-Rams director of player personnel Tony Softli were among those York interviewed for the general manager job.
