Jean Francois (95): 6-foot-3, 295 pounds, fourth season, LSU
Mangold (74): 6-foot-4, 307 pounds, seventh season, Ohio StateThe New York Jets will want to run the football. And the 49ers will likely play Sunday without their biggest run stuffer in the middle of the field.Nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga left the 49ers' game Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings with left knee and ankle sprains. On the next play, Adrian Peterson gained 20 yards on a running play -- nearly doubling the longest previous carry by a running back against the 49ers up to that point in the season.
INJURY REPORT: Jean Francois likely to start
The 49ers will turn to Ricky Jean Francois to anchor in against Jets center Nick Mangold, a four-time Pro Bowl player and two-time All-Pro selection."Ricky's definitely a good player and he played about 300 snaps for us last year," 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said."He started a couple of games, both when Ray (McDonald) and Isaac were down. And we have total confidence when he's in there. We alter nothing because he's in there."New York Jets running back Shonn Greene is coming off his first 1,000-yard rushing season. At his current pace, he'll need nearly 360 rushing attempts to get back there. The Jets' offense needs to get the run game going. Greene has averaged just 2.8 yards per rushing attempt while leading the Jets with 157 yards on the ground in three games.
