SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers on Tuesday re-signed rookie cornerback Lowell Rose, who was waived last week to make room for the expected addition of veteran Eric Wright.

The 49ers acquired Wright in a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, pending a physical. After the trade, reports surfaced that Wright had been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence a week earlier in Los Angeles. The 49ers announced on Monday that Wright failed his physical, though no specifics were provided and there were no reports that Wright had any injury concerns. The failed physical voided the trade. Tampa Bay immediately released Wright, making him a free agent.
Rose (6 foot 1, 192 pounds) played at Tulsa after beginning his college career at UCLA. He rejoins the team for the final two days of practices for rookies and selected veterans before the full squad holds it first practice on Thursday.
