Jones had a strong game in the Rose Bowl, with a sack and two pass breakups in a victory over Wisconsin the final game of his college career. And the momentum carried over to his pro day when his measurable began to attract the attention of NFL teams."I knew if I hit the numbers and teams could see my measurable, along with my game tape, that would be my strength," Jones said.Jones had a private workout with the 49ers at TCU, and he said he spoke regularly over the course of the past couple weeks with 49ers defensive backs coach Ed Donatell, as well as special teams coach Brad Seely.

"I'm a blue-collar player," Jones said. "I love to play special teams. Mr. Seely is a great coach, so I think this is a good fit to play special teams, as well as the need at safety to help and compete there."
