The 49ers selected him in the sixth round. The 49ers now have 12 draft picks in 2013 with the club expected to pick up another two compensatory picks due to net losses in free agency this offseason. The 49ers have apparently parted ways with another special-teams player, as veteran Rock Cartwright sent out the following tweet:Wanna thank the 49ers for the opportunity.. Rock Cartwright (@Rockgotti25) August 31, 2012Cartwright received a 25,000 signing bonus to come to the 49ers after spending the past two seasons with the Raiders.
The 49ers decision to release Cartwright is another indication that Anthony Dixon has a spot on the 49ers 53-man roster. Dixon was the 49ers leading rushing in the exhibition season with 171 yards on 42 rushing attempts. Dixon is also considered one of the 49ers core special teams player, coach Jim Harbaugh said this week.
