SANTA CLARA -- Former Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Austin Collie, a free agent, worked for the 49ers on Thursday afternoon.
Collie walked out to practice field with 49ers general manager Trent Baalke for the workout. Rookie quarterback B.J. Daniels threw passes to Collie, who has been plagued by concussions in his four-year career.
Collie played just one game last season before sustaining a ruptured patellar tendon. He recorded 173 catches for 1,845 yards and 16 touchdowns in his career.
Collie has been medically cleared. He reportedly worked out for the New England Patriots this week.
The 49ers could have an opening on their 90-man roster after receiver Brandon Carswell sustained an undisclosed knee injury on Wednesday.
