Crabtree, Goldson on 49ers practice field, not active

SANTA CLARA -- ReceiverMichael Crabtree and safetyDashon Goldson were in full pads Wednesday on the 49ers' practice field but neither was active during warmup drills.Crabtree, who played just 13 snaps in the 49ers' season opener due to soreness in his surgically repaired left foot, was not seen running any routes. Crabtree spoke with 49ers general manager Trent Baalke and Jeff Ferguson, director of football operations and sports medicine, during the warmup period.Crabtree caught one pass for 4 yards in the season opener Sunday against Seattle. He played one snap in the second half before sitting out the remainder of the game. He underwent X-rays after the game that revealed no structural damage to his foot, he said.
"I feel like I know where he is, us talking, but we'll get a better look at that today in practice," 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said earlier in the day.Goldson, who missed two weeks of practices with a knee injury, returned to the field on Wednesday but was not seen warming up. Goldson was inactive for the 49ers' season opener Sunday against the Seattle Seahawks.Tight end Justin Peelle (6-4, 251) took part in his first practice. He wore No. 81 on the practice field. Peelle was signed Tuesday to give the 49ers' a blocking specialist at tight end."We think so," Harbaugh said. "We're excited to take a look at that today."Also, the 49ers re-signed rookie safety Colin Jones to the practice squad. Jones cleared waivers Wednesday after he was cut to create roster space for Peelle.
