SANTA CLARA -- Running back Frank Gore was upbeat Thursday at his locker prior to 49ers practice, saying he feels much better than he did the week earlier this season that he was listed as questionable with an ankle sprain."I feel good," Gore said. "I'll go out and practice today and practice Friday and get ready for Sunday."Gore went through limited practice after he sustained a right ankle sprain in a Week 3 win at Cincinnati. He was a game-time decision against the Philadelphia Eagles. Although he did not start, Gore rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown in a 24-23 win over the Eagles.Gore sustained a left ankle sprain Sunday in the 49ers' 19-11 win over the Washington Redskins. He went through limited practice Wednesday and was clearly favoring his ankle during individual drills.
Gore is expected to be in the 49ers' starting lineup on Sunday. And he knows the 49ers will face a strong challenge Sunday against the New York Giants front four."They play well as a group," Gore said. "It should be a great game. We're looking forward to them. It's another challenge. We'll do whatever it takes to try to get the win on Sunday."When asked to compare the Giants to the Detroit Lions' defensive line, Gore said, "I'd probably say, as a group, they (the Giants) are probably more athletic. They got some big guys and tough. They play well together."
