The sexual-assault allegation against 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree does not appear to be a strong case, according to a San Francisco Chronicle report.

Two other women who joined Crabtree at a party room at the W Hotel in San Francisco, along with the woman who reported the alleged assault, told investigators that Crabtree did not assault anyone, a San Francisco law enforcement source told The Chronicle's Phillip Matier and Andrew Ross.

On Friday, San Francisco police disclosed Crabtree was interviewed with his lawyer present and was cooperative in the investigation. Crabtree was not detained or arrested. He traveled with the team that day to Atlanta, where the 49ers defeated the Falcons 28-24 in the NFC Championship Game.

A San Francisco police spokesperson told on Tuesday that there was no new information regarding the Crabtree investigation.

Police have not found any physical evidence of an attack, the source told the Chronicle. The woman reported the alleged assault to Oakland four days after the party, which took place hours after the 49ers' playoff victory over the Green Bay Packers in the early hours of Sunday, Jan. 13. Oakland police referred her to San Francisco police, according to the report.
