The 49ers are investigating the safety market with the assumption that All-Pro Dashon Goldson is not coming back.
Charles Woodson, whom the Green Bay Packers released last month, is visiting the 49ers on Wednesday, and the team is reportedly among those interested in visiting with New York Jets free-agent LaRon Landry, as well.
Landry, a six-year veteran, played in all 16 games for the Jets last season after five years with Washington. Landry had two interceptions and eight passes defensed and was named to the AFC Pro Bowl team. Landry is currently visiting the Indianapolis Colts.
The 49ers, Arizona and Detroit were interested in Landry, Yahoo!Sports reported. Landry is scheduled to visit with the 49ers, if he does not sign with the Colts, CBS reported.
Goldson, who earned trips to the Pro Bowl the past two seasons, is currently visiting the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
