SANTA CLARA -- Defensive tackle Justin Smith, who was limited in practice all of last week but played in the 49ers' playoff-opening victory over the Green Bay Packers, returned to a full practice work load on Wednesday.

Smith went through his first full practice since sustaining a partially torn left triceps tendon Dec. 16 against the New England Patriots.
