SANTA CLARA -- Tight end Delanie Walker returned to practice Wednesday, and is likely to be available for the 49ers on Sunday against the New York Giants in the NFC Championship Game at Candlestick Park.
Walker, who was cleared to practice for the first time since sustaining a fractured jaw on Christmas Eve, wore a black jersey to alert teammates that he was off-limits for contact. But after running several pass routes, Walker took off the black jersey and donned his usual No. 46 red jersey. However, three 49ers starters -- safety Dashon Goldson, center Jonathan Goodwin and receiver Ted Ginn -- were not practicing Wednesday during the period in which the media is allowed to observe warmups.
Goldson was working out in the 49ers' on-field weight room due to an unspecified condition, which the club is required to identify following practice. Goldson appeared to injure his right knee ankle in the third quarter of Saturday's game against the Saints. He missed two plays, replaced by Reggie Smith, and returned to finish the game.
Goodwin (left lower leg) and receiver Ted Ginn (right knee) also were not practicing. Goodwin was on the field watching practice. Ginn was not seen.Defensive end Ray McDonald (right hamstring) took part in additional stretching and rehab work before jogging out to the field to join his teammates just prior to the beginning of team drills.
