OAKLAND -- Warriors coach Mark Jacksonsaid on Thursday that center Andrew Bogut will likely sit out the second gameof back-to-backs -- at least early in the season.Bogut, who fractured his left anklewhile playing for the Milwaukee Bucks in January, returned to action on thecourt for the first time since then on Wednesday night against the Suns inPhoenix.RECAP: Warriors edge Suns in opener
Jackson said the plan this weekend isfor Bogut to play on Friday night in the Warriors home opener against theMemphis Grizzlies and then to sit out Saturdays game against the Clippers inLos Angeles.Right now thats the thinking,Jackson said after Thursdays practice. Thats the way were going to go rightnow until something else happens. But were looking forward to him playing (vs.Memphis).Jackson said the process is fluid andcould change depending on how Boguts ankle feels on any given day.Just look at the schedule, was howJackson responded, when asked how those decisions are made. Thats basicallyit. You look at this one. After a break (Thursday), we play tomorrow. So itmakes sense. But well also see how he feels the day of the game. If he comesin (Friday) and doesnt feel right, then he wont play. So, well play it byear and once again be true to the process.Jackson said the plan is to play Bogutabout 20 to 25 minutes in games at this point. Bogut played 18 minutes in theseason-opener against the Suns, and he wanted to play more in the second half. But Jackson said no.Well listen to his body, listen to thedoctors, Jackson said. And Ill also look at what the game is telling me asfar as how hes looking and how he feels. We just want to be smart.
