If season canceled, what about 2012 NBA draft?

Forgive me if this is common knowledge for some, but Ivegotten this question a bunch in the past several weeks and wanted to addressit. The question is simple: If the NBA season is canceled, whathappens with the order of the 2012 draft?Answer: The league has made no determination on that and isrefusing to address the issue at this point. It would seem as if the NBA could go a in a few differentdirections on this. It could keep the same draft order as last season, it couldredo the lottery portion using the same teams as 2011, it could take theaverage finish of teams over a three- to five-year period, or it could figureout a way where all 30 teams have the same odds entirely. For Warriors fans, this could end up being veryimportant. Why? Because the Warriors 2012 draft pick could be conveyedto the Utah Jazz. Next summers Warriors pick is protected if its a top-sevenpick, but if its No. 8 or worse, it will go to Utah.It was all part of the original deal for Marcus Williams, whom the Warriors acquired from the New Jersey Nets in July 2008. The Netssubsequently traded the pick to Utah as part of last seasons Deron Williamstrade. The Warriors selected No. 11 in 2011, takingWashington States Klay Thompson. If they have the same No. 11 pick in 2012, the Jazz get the pick.
