Former Warrior Jason Richardson will be in the Bay Area onSaturday taking part in the We Believe charity game at the San Jose StateUniversity Events Center. As any hardcore Warriors fan will tell you, Richardson wastraded after the 2007 season and it hurt. A lot. Richardson was more thanjust a popular player, he had a little something extra going on with Warriorsfans and they had a little something extra going on with him.
Thats why it was easy for him to say yes to the charitygame in the Bay Area.I think its loyalty, said Richardson, when asked todescribe his relationship with Warriors fans. Thats the factor right there.Thats why we have that type of relationship. The years when I was putting upbig numbers and trying to do whatever I could to help us win, I never demandeda trade, I never blamed my teammates, I never blamed coaching.I just went out there and worked hard and I feel like thefans saw that from me. I never complained and never took a night off. Even if Ihad a bad scoring night, Id still do whatever I could to try to help the teamwin games.Since playing with Golden State, Richardson has been withCharlotte, Phoenix and Orlando. Oh, by he way, Richardson, 30, is a free agent, and the Warriors could use a little bit of size in their backcourt.Put it this way, there are things that make a lot less sensethan Richardson returning to the Warriors Stephen Curry, Monta Ellis and Richardsonisnt a bad threesome.I would never shut down an opportunity to return there,Richardson said. Like I said, its home to me. The Warriors were the team thatdrafted me, believed in my ability and talent. I want to keep all of my optionswhen it comes to teams and situations Id be willing to do.Id never count out going back to the Bay. I woulddefinitely be open to it.
