NBA Draft scouting report: Harrison Barnes

Share

North Carolinas Harrison Barnes is considered the most polished of the small forwards in this years draft. He might not have the upside of a Michael Kidd-Gilchrist or the athleticism of a Moe Harkless or Perry Jones III, but hes as close to a sure thing this draft has to offerwith the lone exception being Anthony Davis. To say hes a future NBA all-star might be going out on a limb, but to think of him as a starting-caliber small forward for the next decade-plus is a reasonable expectation.Barnes has been as high as No. 2 on some mock drafts, with the thinking being that the Charlotte Bobcats need a small forward and hes right next door. But other mock drafts have him slippingperhaps even as far down as No. 7, where the Warriors pick.Owner Joe Lacob and general manager Bob Myers took a red-eye flight to New York on Sunday to watch Barnes in a private workout. That seems to give some credence to the belief that Barnes could be there when the Warriors pick. Not likely, but not impossible.
