Warriors waive PG Ish Smith

Likely paving the way to acquire a big man, the Warriorswaived point guard Ish Smith on Friday.Smith appeared in just six games for the Warriors andaveraged 5.4 points and 1.8 assists in 12.6 minutes per game.By waiving Smith, the Warriors roster is now at 14 players.Warriors general manager Larry Riley said on Thursday that the team wouldprobably sign a big man to replace center Kwame Brown, who is out for threemonths with a tear in his chest muscle.
Smith hadnt played since a game on Jan. 4, against the SanAntonio Spurs. He lost playing time after the Warriors signed Nate Robinson.Smith also had fallen behind Charles Jenkins in the rotation.
