49ers' McDonald does not practice but expects to play vs. Saints

SANTA CLARA -- Defensive end Ray McDonald, nursing a right hamstring strain, did not practice on Tuesday.McDonald, who sat out a game in November with a left hamstring strain, said this injury is not as bad. When asked earlier Tuesday about McDonald and Justin Smith, 49ers defensive coordinator Vic Fangio said, "They're fine."Neither Smith, who is nursing a sore knee, nor McDonald practiced last week. Smith was suited up for practice and went through individual drills. Both are expected to be available Saturday when the 49ers face the New Orleans Saints in an NFC divisional playoff game at Candlestick Park.RELATED: Walker to be re-examined on Monday
Tight end Delanie Walker (fractured jaw) was seen working out on a side field during the portion of practice Tuesday that was open to the media. Walker said he is scheduled to be re-examined on Monday and hopes to be cleared to play if the 49ers advance to the NFC Championship game.
