49ers work out three RBs

SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers worked out free-agent running backs Dimitri Nance, Jalen Permele and Tyrell Sutton on Tuesday, a league source told CSNBayArea.com.Nance, who had 95 yards on 36 carries for the Green Bay Packers last season, has also worked out recently with Kansas City, Miami and Philadelphia.Permele played parts of the past three seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. He has worked out for the Jacksonville and Chiefs in recent weeks. He has seven career carries for 44 yards.
And Sutton, who worked out recently for Cincinnati, played 16 games over the past two seasons with the Carolina Panthers. He carried 25 times for 139 yards (5.6 average).None of the players the 49ers worked out has practice-squad eligibility. The 49ers did not sign any of the three running backs on Tuesday.The 49ers currently have three running backs on their 53-man roster. Anthony Dixon is the 49ers' No. 3 back behind Frank Gore and Kendall Hunter. Dixon has one carry for 6 yards while playing just two snaps from scrimmage in the first four games.
