The 49ers agreed to terms Thursday with running back Rock Cartwright, one of the Raiders' top special teams players last season, the NFL Network reported.Cartwright, a 10-year veteran, had just four carries for 45 yards and four receptions for 24 yards, while finishing second on the Raiders with eight special-teams tackles.
The 49ers this week opted not to re-sign special-teamer Blake Costanzo, who signed a two-year, 1.865 million deal with the Chicago Bears.Cartwright has some experience as a return man, but the 49ers do not consider him a possible full-time replacement if Ted Ginn does not return. Ginn visited the Detroit Lions on Wednesday. A kick returner earlier in his career, Cartwright had just nine returns for 118 yards the past two seasons with the Raiders.
