SANTA CLARA -- Running back Frank Gore did not take part in 49ers practice Wednesday as he recovers from a right knee bruise.Gore, who was wearing sweatpants and his red jersey top, watched the 49ers' individual drills but did not participate. The knee bruise sidelined him for most of the second half of the 49ers' win Sunday against the New York Giants. Gore gained no yards on six rushing attempts Sunday in the 49ers' 27-20 victory over the Giants.
Gore told CSNBayArea.com on Monday that he was fine and did not require an MRI examination. Gore entered the Giants game with an ankle sprain that limited him in practice last week.

Earlier in the day, 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh said he believed Gore would be available to practice Wednesday.Defensive end Justin Smith did not participate in warmup drills, either. Smith has been held out of practice the past two Wednesdays to give the 11-year veteran another day to recover from playing every snap in the games.Everybody else was suited up for the 49ers' one padded practice of the week, including linebacker Patrick Willis, who was spotted Monday with an ice pack wrapped to his ribs.
