Punter Andy Lee was named Special Teams Player of the Week for the NFC following his performance against the Steelers. He is San Francisco's first punter to win the award. It is also the first Player of the Week Award for Lee.
Lee is also a key member of the field goal and PAT unit, holding for kicker David Akers, who broke Jerry Rice's single-season scoring record on Monday.

- Lee placed four of his six punts inside the 15-yard line and had a net average of 49.2 yards per punt in the 49ers 20-3 win over Pittsburgh.
- In a game in which field position played a key role, four of Lees six punts were downed inside the 15-yard line and the other two went for 57 and 62 yards.
- His six punts gave the Steelers starting field position at the five-, 16-, 10-, eight-, 14- and 12-yard lines; an average starting spot of 10.8.
- Lee leads the NFL with a 44.1-yard net average and has placed 26 punts inside the 20-yard line this season. He leads the NFC averaging 50.4 yards per punt.
