Report: Jeff Garcia works out for Texans

Former 49ers quarterback (and Raiders camper for a minute)Jeff Garcia is still looking for a starting gig in the NFL, and on Monday, he reportedlyfound another opportunity.Nick Scurfield of houstontexans.com first tweeted thatGarcia was among five players brought in to compete to for a roster spotbehind starter Matt Leinart and backup T.J Yates.Leinart is now the Texans starter after Matt Schaubs abilityto play again this season was put in doubt following a foot injury he incurred inWeek 10 against the Buccaneers.Garcia, 41, played for the 49ers, Browns, Eagles andBuccaneers over parts of 11 seasons in the NFL, amassing 25,537 yards with 161touchdown passes and 83 interceptions (an 87.5 career passer rating). Prior to theNFL, he spent five seasons in the CFL before signing with the 49ers.Garcia played collegiately at San Jose State.With the 49ers in 2000 he had his best season statisticallywhen he threw for 4,278 yards and 31 touchdowns with 10 interceptions (a 97.6passer rating). He is a four-time Pro Bowler ('00, '01, '02, '07).
The Raiders signed Garcia in April of 2009 to come in andmentor then starter JaMarcus Russell, but was cut in early September before theseason started.Garcia most recently played with the UFLs Omaha Nighthawks.
