Report: Moss to work out for 49ers

Receiver Randy Moss is scheduled to fly to the Bay Area on Sunday to work out for the 49ers on Monday, according to an ESPN report, which cited a league source.Moss, 35, recently worked out for the New Orleans Saints, as he attempts to make a comeback after sitting out the 2011 season in "retirement."
The 49ers are looking to upgrade at wide receiver through free agency, which begins Tuesday at 1 p.m. (PT). Moss is available to negotiate with teams now.Joshua Morgan and Ted Ginn are scheduled free agents. Moss and Morgan are both represented by agent Joel Segal. The only receivers the 49ers have under contract for 2012 are Michael Crabtree, Kyle Williams and Joe Hastings.Moss last played in 2010, when he suited up for three different teams -- New England, Minnesota and Tennessee. Moss played all 16 games in 2010, but caught only 28 passes for 393 yards and five interceptions touchdowns.In his 13-year NFL career, Moss made the Pro Bowl six times. He has 954 catches for 14,858 yards and 153 touchdowns. He ranks second all-time behind Jerry Rice in touchdowns, fifth all-time in receiving yards and ninth in career receptions.Last year, the 49ers pursued free-agent receiver Plaxico Burress in free agency before signing Braylon Edwards to a one-year contract. The 49ers cut ties with Edwards in December.
