The 49ers spent the early part of Tuesday focused on cornerbacks from outside the organization. But, eventually, the 49ers are expected to end up with someone they know very well.Veteran cornerback Carlos Rogers, who tied for the 49ers lead with six interceptions last season, will re-sign with San Francisco on a four-year deal for approximately 30 million, Yahoo! Sports reported. The deal will average 7.3 million annually.
Rogers, who turns 31 in July, had the best season of his seven-year NFL career after signing a one-year, 4.25 million deal with the 49ers. Rogers was named to the NFC Pro Bowl team in his first season with the 49ers after six years with the Washington Redskins. The 49ers and Rogers were never close to coming to terms on a multi-year contract before the start of free agency. And when free agency began, the 49ers focused on Eric Wright (Detroit) and Brandon Carr (Kansas City).RELATED: 49ers going after CB Wright
In other free agency news, special-teamer Blake Costanzo, a Pro Bowl alternate last season with the 49ers, has agreed to terms with the Chicago Bears on a two-year contract, according to his agent, David Canter.
