Stanford's Owusu showcases speed at combine

INDIANAPOLIS -- Stanford's Chris Owusu is just fine. And his time in the 40-yard dash Sunday at the NFL scouting combine seemed to prove it.Owusu's senior season ended prematurely when he sustained his third concussion in a little more than a year. He left the field in an ambulance in November after taking a huge hit from Oregon State cornerback Jordan Poyer.Owusu was cleared to return to football in advance of the NFL scouting combine. Owusu's agent, Steve Caric, said Owusu has been symptom-free since the day after the hit.Owusu on Sunday clocked the second-fastest time at the NFL scouting combine with a blazing unofficial time of 4.31 seconds. Georgia Tech's Stephen Hill, from the morning session, led the way at 4.30 seconds.MAIOCCO: Georgia Tech WR Hill provides peak performance
The 49ers are likely to add a wide receiver at some point in the draft next month, and there are plenty of options from which to select. The 49ers could target Owusu in the mid-rounds. Owusu played three seasons at Stanford under coach Jim Harbaugh. The 49ers own the No. 30 overall pick, and they'll have some options if they decide to add to their receiving corps at the end of the first round.
NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock said last week that Justin Blackmon (Oklahoma State), Kendall Wright (Baylor), Michael Floyd (Notre Dame) and Rueben Randle (LSU) should be taken in the first round.Mayock is not high on Alshon Jeffery (South Carolina) or Mohamed Sanu (Rutgers). Jeffery and Sanu lack the speed to gain separation from NFL cornerbacks, Mayock said. Jeffery did not run, while Sanu supported Mayock's assertion with a time of 4.65.Top unofficial 40 times for receivers
