SAN FRANCISCO -- New York Giants defensive end Justin Tuck created a stir with his comments about Alex Smith.
After the 49ers' 27-20 victory over the Giants on Sunday, Tuck was a gracious loser, Smith said.
Tuck sought out Smith to congratulate him on the victory. Smith completed 19 of 30 passes for 242 yards with one touchdown and one interception.

The 49ers won despite zero yards from running back Frank Gore, who was sidelined in the second half with a right knee injury.
"Basically, he (Tuck) said his quotes got twisted and out of context," Smith told CSNBayArea.com. "He said it was never meant to come out like that."
When asked if he accepted Tuck's explanation, Smith answered, "Yeah, I mean, I accepted it with a win. That's really all I cared about at the time."
"He's a guy that they're trying to keep out of the position of having to win the football game," Tuck said, among other things, about Smith this week.

Right guard Adam Snyder said Tuck was a "class act" during and after the game.
"I didn't hear him say a word during the game," Snyder said. "After the game he congratulated us and said, 'We'll see you again.' And I believe that because they're a good team -- a solid playoff team."
