SANTA CLARA -- Linebacker Patrick Willis appeared ready to return for at least limited participation Thursday, based on the portion of 49ers practice open to the media.
Willis has not practiced since sustaining a right hamstring strain Dec. 4 against the St. Louis Rams. He wore shells and had his cleats taped up. After going through stretching, Willis joined his defensive teammates on the practice field for the first time since the injury.Willis' status for Saturday's game against the Seattle Seahawks remains uncertain. He will likely be listed as questionable, a game-time decision, for the game.

Receiver Ted Ginn appears doubtful for Saturday's game against, as he still has a noticeable limp after sustaining an ankle sprain Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Ginn was not expected to practice on Thursday.Braylon Edwards is expected to be available for Saturday's game, and Kyle Williams is the top candidate to take on the return chores in the likelihood Ginn does not play.
