SANTA CLARA -- Linebacker Patrick Willis will not practice Wednesday, but the 49ers expect to get receiver Braylon Edwards back on the field.Coach Jim Harbaugh said he did not know if Willis would be available to play Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. Willis sustained a right hamstring strain against the St. Louis Rams and will probably miss a game, a source told CSNBayArea.com. Willis' injury will not require surgery.
Meanwhile, Edwards dressed for practice Wednesday at lunch time, as he said he expects to play the remainder of the season. Edwards did not practice nor play last week to allow time to rehabilitate his right knee and left shoulder.Edwards worked extensively with head athletic trainer Jeff Ferguson and his staff, and head strength and conditioning coach Mark Uyeyama to strengthen the areas around his injuries. Edwards missed four games earlier this season after undergoing surgery to repair torn cartilage in his knee. He also is nursing a sprain to his AC joint in his shoulder.
"We got a lot of work done last week," Edwards said. "I felt good about going this weekend."I don't plan on watching any more clinching going on without me," Edwards said. "That was a little 50-50 to watch, but I don't plan on missing any more games. I plan on playing and playing to the best of my ability. I think we'll increase reps, based on week to week. That's the plan now."
