UPDATE: (Thursday, 9:05 a.m.) -- The Raiders confirmed the signing of running back Rashad Jennings in a press release.
Add another free agent to the list of players taking to social media to proclaim himself a new member of the Raiders.
Rashad Jennings tweeted Wednesday afternoon, "Its official!! I'll be rocking that Black and Silver this yr. #Raidernation let's make it happen!"
The Raiders have yet to announce anything, even after safety Reggie Smith III, a few hours earlier, tweeted out a photo of himself signing what appeared to be a Raiders contract.
And as reported earlier, veteran backup quarterback Seneca Wallace was also expected to sign with the Raiders.
Jennings, 28, would apparently back up Darren McFadden after Mike Goodson left via free agency for the New York Jets and Taiwan Jones made the switch to cornerback. Jennings, a seventh-round draft pick of Jacksonville in 2009, is familiar with new Raiders offensive coordinator Greg Olsen, as he was the Jaguars' QB coach last year.
It was with the Jaguars last season that Jennings replaced an injured Maurice Jones-Drew as a starter and rushed for 44 yards on 21 carries while catching a season-high seven passes for 58 yards against the Raiders on Oct. 21, 2012. He also had a five-yard touchdown run in Oakland's eventual 26-23 come-from-behind victory.
Jennings finished the 2012 season with 282 rushing yards and two scores on 101 carries and 19 receptions for 130 yards.
In his career, Jennings has played in 38 games, starting nine, and rushed for 944 yards and seven TDs on 224 carries (4.2 yards average) while catching 61 passes for 454 yards (7.4 yards average).
