NEW YORK -- The A's have announced their pitching matchups for this coming weekend's three-game series in Anaheim to begin the second half of the season.

Right-hander A.J. Griffin, rather than All-Star Bartolo Colon, will get Oakland's first post-All Star break start. Griffin (8-6, 3.68 ERA) will oppose Los Angeles Angels right-hander Jered Weaver (3-5, 3.63) on Friday at Angel Stadium.

On Saturday, rookie Dan Straily (6-2, 4.28) will be called up from Triple-A Sacramento in time to face lefty C.J. Wilson (9-6, 3.37). It is not known yet what the corresponding roster move will be, though rookie phenom Sonny Gray did take Straily's roster spot a week ago.

And in the series finale, the right-handed Colon (12-3, 2.70) goes against fellow right-hander Jerome Williams (5-5, 4.60).

The first-place A's (56-39) hold a two-game lead over Texas (54-41) in the American League West, and the third-place Angels (44-49) are 11 games behind Oakland.
