BOX SCORE

SEATTLE -- Glass half-full explanation: the Raiders didn't care about the final score, they just wanted to see what their backups looked like. Glass half-empty explanation: this was embarrassing. Sure, it was only an exhibition game and the Raiders' starters saw no meaningful time, but getting shut out should leave a sour taste in their mouths. The manner in which they were dominated -- Seattle had 24 first downs to the Raiders' five -- well that was something else entirely. The starters see some time: Darren McFadden was dressed but did not play. Same with Brandon Myers and Tommy Kelly. But Carson Palmer started under center and handed the ball off six straight times before taking the rest of the game off. Both first-team units played one series apiece.Lack of depth: I've written and said time and again that the Raiders' front-line players, on both sides of the ball, are among the most talented in the leaguewhen healthy. The problem, though, is the chasm between the first-stringer and second-stringers. A lack of quality depth showed up. Big time. The Seahawks' offense carved up the Raiders' backups on defense time and again. What about the new returners?: Um, never mind? Roscoe Parrish fumbled his two punts, losing one, and Coye Francies fumbled his lone kickoff return, though the Raiders recovered. Francies saw some time as a defensive back later, but not much.A fan favorite in a boot: Undrafted rookie punter Marquette King was not in uniform and though we heard nothing of an injury to him, he was wearing a protective boot on his left foot. The conspiracy theorist might say the Raiders have found a way to "hide" the talented-but-raw punter. No offense: With more than eight minutes to play, the Raiders had a grand total of 72 yards of offense. Even in an "it-means-nothing" exhibition, that's not good. And they also had just four first downs.Who stood out, in a positive way?: Taiwan Jones on one run, and the defensive back trio of Pat Lee, Brandon Underwood and Curtis Taylor. Nathan Stupar also made some plays and DeMarcus Van Dyke flashed on one play to break up a pass. Bryan McCann may have clinched a spot on the team with his returns.Who stood out, in a negative way?: Where to begin? Parrish and Francies, the backup offensive line in general, Kevin Haslam in particular, Chimdi Chekwa. And it sure was strange to see Mike Mitchell still in the game late in the fourth quarter.
