NAPA -- Raiders center Stefen Wisniewski's strained calf is not only keeping him from live reps in practice but will most likely keep him out of Oakland's all-important third exhibition game, Saturday against Detroit."I wouldn't expect him to play this week, no," Raiders coach Dennis Allen said following practice Wednesday.Wisniewski, the Raiders' top draft pick out of Penn State in 2011, is learning a new position after excelling at left guard last year. He was injured, though, in the Raiders' preseason opener against Dallas on Aug. 13.So is Wisniewski simply too hurt to play this week, or is it too close to the regular season to risk further injury?"It's a little bit of both," Allen said. "If we were in the regular season could he push through and play? Probably. Maybe. I don't know."We're not going to take that chance right now in a preseason game."Alex Parsons has been taking the first-team snaps at center and no matter who gets the call on Sept. 10, he will be the Raiders' sixth different starting center in as many years.RELATED: Parsons taking advantage
Backup quarterback Matt Leinart, meanwhile, will be a gametime decision against the Lions after taking stitches to his right (non-throwing) index finger in Arizona on Friday."He's fine to play," Allen said. "Whether we play him or not, I don't know the answer to that yet."NEWS: Leinart not taking snaps
Leinart appeared to take a blow to the head from Cardinals nose tackle Ricky Lumpkin in the play that cut his finger and knocked him out of the game.Asked if Leinart had a concussion, Allen shook his head."No, we went through the battery of tests and that was not the case," Allen said. "Just the finger."The biggest adjustment will be handoffs but we feel like we've got a splint that we can put on where it won't be an issue."So, how did free agent defensive endlinebacker Andre Carter's work out go on Tuesday?"It went all right," Allen said. "We got a good look-see. We'll see what we do from here."Tight end Richard Gordon did not practice due to sore ribs suffered against the Cardinals.
