As speculated, at the root of Raiders rookie receiver Juron Criner thus far not signing his contract is a disagreement over the draftee's signing bonus, according to a report from ESPN.A difference of 14,000 threatens to keep Criner from reporting on time, per the report.Criner, who was a compensatory pick at the end of the fifth round out of Arizona, wants 158,000 as his signing bonus and the Raiders are offering the 144,000 guaranteed by his draft slot, which was No. 33 in the round, No. 168 overall.Per the report, Criner wants his bonus to be in line with what the players drafted directly ahead of him received with "the total difference between the bonus money from the No. 26-32 picks in the fifth round is 18,000-plus dollars. From picks No. 30-32 in the round; the difference between the bonus money was in the 2,000 range for each pick. The bonus money for the No. 32 pick in the fifth round (Cincinnati safety George Iloka was 160,000-plus. Criner wants the 2,000 bonus decline to continue."But as a comp pick, the bonus slotting dips significantly, per the NFLs Management Councils guidelines, and the max for the No. 33 pick of the fifth round is 144,000, which is what the Raiders are offering.Or, you can look at it this way -- even if Criner gets the additional 14,000, the Raiders veterans will probably make him pay for some meals adding up to about 14K. Napa wine train, anyone?
