OAKLAND -- Taiwan Jones, making his first preseason appearance after being sidelined with a balky hamstring, all but sewed up the No. 2 running back position Saturday.Or did you not see him gliding through the Detroit defense with aplomb in the Raiders' 31-20 defeat of the Lions?"I mean, it's time to write the resume now to show what I can do," Jones said. "So I've been doing it all camp and I had to go out there and do it against another opponent."Jones carried the ball 10 times for 50 yards. And looked smooth doing it."He did some nice things," said Raiders coach Dennis Allen. "He was explosive. He's obviously really fast. He has a real nice run where he got a little penetration and cut back and was able to get around the defense. That's one of the things that he gives you is he does have some real speed so his ability to get on the edges is good for us."Jones' competition, Mike Goodson, had 18 yards on seven carries. But he had fumble issues last week in Arizona, putting two balls on the grass there. So besides running well, Jones also held onto the ball. Then what, exactly, is on Jones' resume now?"First things first is ball security," Jones said. "Just always gaining positive yards and picking up blocks in a pass play, things like that."And the hamstring was never an issue."I mean, once the game starts, you aren't really thinking about anything," he said. "You just got to go out there and have fun. And if you play loose and have fun, then that stuff doesn't matter."
