Is Bush in line for a big payday?

ALAMEDA -- Michael Bush probably made himself a lot of money last Thursday night on primetime television, with no one else playing and the nation watching.Going for 242 total yards from scrimmage will do that for a guy in a contract year. And with the new Collective Bargaining Agreement in place Bush will be an unrestricted free agent.Just don't expect Bush to talk much about it, if at all."No way," he said Wednesday, "I ain't touching that. That will just handle itself."Bush, the Raiders' No. 2 back behind Darren McFadden since 2008, has shown himself to be more than a capable backup to the injury-prone Run DMC, who has missed at least three games in each of his first three seasons due to injury. This season alone, Bush has rushed for 99, 96 and 157 yards against Kansas City, Denver and San Diego, respectively, since McFadden went down with a right mid-foot sprain.RELATED: Michael Bush is AFC offensive player of the week for effort vs. Chargers
"Michael Bush is one really fine football player in this league also," said Raiders coach Hue Jackson. "There's a lot of teams that would love to have him, but he's ours. He plays for the Raiders and he's done a fantastic job."He's up to the challenge and ready to play and he will be this Sunday."Bush missed the first 11 days of training camp this summer before signing his first- and third-round tenders, worth 2.6 million.Of course, to avoid getting into a bidding war this offseason to retain Bush's services, the Raiders could slap the franchise tag on him. It is expected to be 7.71 million for running backs for the 2012 season.
