Packers' playoff loss may accelerate Raiders' coaching search

The Raiders' coaching search might have just been given an accelerant, thanks to the New York Giants.Of course you remember Oakland's new general manager Reggie McKenzie saying last week in his introductory media conference that he wanted "my guy." And no one fits that profile better than the handful of candidates on Green Bay's staff who's season just ended, courtesy of their upset 37-20 loss to the Giants on Sunday.

The defending champion Packers, who went 15-1 in the regular season, were expected to advance at least to the Super Bowl, which would have delayed McKenzie being able to interview any of them. NowMcKenzie, who was wearing one of his Packers Super Bowl championship ring in Alameda last Tuesday, is free to to start scheduling interviews with any of his old guys.Among those Packers assistants linked to the Raiders gig -- assistant head coach inside linebackers Winston Moss, defensive coordinator Dom Capers, secondarysafeties Darren Perry and offensive coordinator Joe Philbin.A potential speed bump, though, is that Green Bay's staff is now obligated to coach the NFC roster in the Pro Bowl in two weeks as the staff of the highest seed eliminated in the divisional round assumes such responsibilities, hence New England and Atlanta coaching in Honolulu last year.Former Miami Dolphins interim coach Todd Bowles reportedly interviewed with McKenzie on Friday.
