Raiders WRs Moore, Ford out of walking boots

Looking for some football-related reasons to give thanks, Raiders fans?The boots have been removed from the injured feet of rookie receiver Denarius Moore and second-year pro Jacoby Ford, veteran receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh is not injured and breakthrough third-year pass-catcher Darrius Heyward-Bey was more than an observer for Oakland on a morning Thanksgiving Day practice."Boot's off," coach Hue Jackson said Thursday of the right foot of Moore, who surprised many observers by showing up to practice on Wednesday wearing the protective device. "We'll just kind of see where he is. He didn't do much today, but we'll see where he is. Hopefully we'll get him back tomorrow and get a feel for where he is."Houshmandzadeh, as expected, was with his wife for the birth of their child.And on the Heyward-Bey front, after he was strapped down and carried off the Mall of America Field following a scary-looking hit to the back of his head at Minnesota on Sunday?"He did a couple things," Jackson said. "He ran around a little bit, caught some balls, did some things. Again, we'll monitor him, see how he feels tomorrow. Obviously, when you run around like that now, you're probably going to be sore tomorrow, so we'll see where all that is and go from there."Ford and running back Darren McFadden missed practice again, though, as neither have practiced since Nov. 10 and Oct. 23 with sprains to the left and right feet, respectively."Same old, same old, same status quo," Jackson said. "Again, we'll see if we can get anything out of either one of them tomorrow. I know Jacoby is definitely out of the boot. I know that, without a doubt, he is. I know we're making a lot of progress with both guys, but is it enough to get out there and play? I don't know that yet."Placekicker Sebastian Janikowski not appearing on the injury report is a good sign for the Raiders as well, considering his left hamstring has been an issue for more than a month now."We've turned the corner a little bit," Jackson said. "We'll know exactly once we kick him. I still want to be patient with his leg and just make sure there's not an opportunity to have a setback, but I think we're getting better and getting closer to where it needs to be."
