Raiders closing in on cap compliance

The NFL has announced the salary cap for the 2012 season will be 120.6 million, slightly more than the 120.375 million figure from 2011.As such, and by the math done on this end, the Raiders are 1.196.234 million over the cap with Tuesday's 1 p.m. PT deadline looming. And while that figure includes the purported 6.2-million price tag for the franchise designation used by Oakland on strong safety Tyvon Branch, it does not factor in linebacker Aaron Curry's restructured contract extension, which would reduce his cap number from 5.757.5 million but has not been disclosed since he announced it on Twitter Friday evening. Two weeks ago, the Raiders had 142.514.984 dedicated to the 2012 salary cap, including the 3.23 million they could roll over. Since then, they've saved a combined 26.918.75 million with the restructuring of contracts (Carson Palmer -- 9.34 million, defensive tackle Richard Seymour -- 5.988 million, and free safety Michael Huff -- 5.840.75 million) and cuts (cornerback Chris Johnson -- 3.5 million, and safety Hiram Eugene -- 2.25 million).Moves could still be made with linebacker Kamerion Wimbley, who has a cap number of 11.85 million for 2012, and defensive tackle John Henderson, whose cap number is 4.75 million.
