SAN JOSE -- The Sharks have won four of their previous six games at Joe Louis Arena, but their last playoff game, Game 4 of last years series, turned out to be a 7-1 loss. San Jose was up, 3-0, and yes, complacency reared its ugly head. The Wings were agitated by at least two more snow showers in the face of goaltender Jimmy Howard, both from Joe Pavelski. It will doubtless become an issue as the series shifts to Detroit, especially in the media, where such things tend to reside best. When it comes to snow showers, I have no time for gimmicks or crap like that, coach Todd McLellan said. If our players do that, theyre going to hear it from me, but theyre going to hear it from me if they dont go into the blue paint and look for the puck. But this is not a circus, its not a clown show.
RATTO: Sharks so sharp, even McLellan can't critique
Thats up to the refs, Red Wings defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom said. Its obvious they are trying to do it. We spoke to the refs about it several times. They have to do something about it. You have to get away from that. Ben Eager played one minute in the first period, and 10 seconds in the second. He managed to draw a roughing penalty and a misconduct in chats with Detroits Todd Bertuzzi in those 10 seconds, though, and did not play in the third. That's what happens in playoffs, Eager said. It's pretty intense. He (Bertuzzi) finished his check on Heater (Dany Heatley) there and I just went over to kind of give him a little shove and we fell into the bench there. It's part of the game.I dropped one glove. I've seen that call from those guys before, nothing surprising, especially when it's on NBC.Ray Ratto is a columnist for CSNBayArea.com.
